Children playing in snow

Our staff are all qualified, or working towards a qualification, and have an abundance of experienced in Early Years child care. Together, we get to know the children in our care, learn about their interests and ‘what makes them tick’, and we use that understanding to plan for their individual learning.

We operate a ‘key worker’ scheme in which each child has a named member of staff who takes a closer interest in their care and development. All staff and volunteer helpers are members of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and we operate a clear Child Protection Policy and Confidentiality Policy.

The Playgroup provides a wide range of activities, both indoors and outdoors, to engage the childrens’ interest and imagination.

Everything we do is subject to a risk assessment, but we are not risk-adverse; so from time to time we offer exciting experiences such as cooking marshmallows over an open fire or using real hammers and nails, all within safe limits. Activities of this sort help the children understand and assess risk for themselves and give them confidence as they develop.

Above all, we emphasise play, and we provide a safe and stimulating environment in which children feel happy and secure, and have fun!
